Lawsuits for Elmiron

Elmiron is the name of pentosane polysulfate sodium. This is used for treating a condition named interstitial cystitis or IC. This is also known as bladder pain syndrome. This condition is a very poorly understood one with the symptoms like chronic bladder pain, urinary frequency and urgency and painful sexual intercourse.

However, it has been claimed that extensive exposure to Elmiron is the cause of maculopathy which is an eye disorder affecting the macula or the central part of the retina. And this can lead to blindness.

So, if you or your loved ones have been suffering from maculopathy or any kind of serious eye damage or partial or complete blindness, while taking Elmiron for a very long time for it to be a possible cause, come to us at Logue Law Group. Our West Virginia Elmiron lawyer is an experienced one with this claim and will help you so that you can get the rightful justice.

Things to Know About Elmiron Lawsuits

In 2018, in an article published by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the author talked about six cases of maculopathy that he had treated at Emory Eye Center between 2015 and 2017. All of these patients had pigmentary maculopathy which followed chronic exposure to Elmiron. In 2019, the same author updated the article again while reporting the case of ten more patients with the same problem and the same apparent cause. The primary complaints of the patients in this study included:

  • The loss of low light vision
  • Dimming vision in general
  • Reading difficulty
  • General near vision difficulty

In addition to this eye damage, the medicine has not shown any substantial result in interstitial cystitis. Even the FDA supports this result too.

Injuries and Side Effects Caused by Extensive Exposure to Elmiron

There are multiple marketing studies that are showing that Elmiron is linked with maculopathy, the very serious progressive illness of people that can cause impaired vision, blindness or central vision loss.

The type of degeneration that has been linked with Elmiron is called pigmentary maculopathy that causes damage in the macula or the central part of the retina. If a patient is dealing with this condition will experience the following difficulties:

  • General poor vision
  • Dimming of vision
  • Distortion of images
  • Blurred vision
  • Black spots in the center of the vision
  • Legal blindness

The FDA encourages individuals to report any kind of unexpected side effects that is caused by any drug or any medical device which leads to unfortunate effects. Similarly, if you have been taking Elmiron and now your vision is compromised, come to our West Virginia Elmiron lawyer.

Client Reviews
"I had hired Mr Logue a few years ago for my gf at the time for charges she had gotten before i had met her for prostitution. Big mistake to date her and pay for her lawyer as we didn’t work out but Mr Logue far exceeded expectations. He got nearly all charges in 2 separate cases dropped for her. My mistake to hire him for her but her blessing. I know she didn’t thank you enough so allow me to for her. Very highly recommend Mr. Logue.” A.C.
I was arrested on a felony 3 charge looking at at least up to 2 years in prison. County District Attorney didn't want to negotiate. After a lot of hard work, Sean was able to plead the case all the way down to just 90 days jail with a work release. Better deal than I realistically could have hoped for. Sean and his team worked hard for me. They're the best! Anonymous
After the salesmen told me my gun application "wouldn't be a problem," I was charged with an illegal attempt to posses a firearm. Sean Logue has a good relationship with the DA, but still pushed them to have a trial and I was found not guilty of the felony charge. Sean is a tough and smart lawyer who knows his way around the courtrooms. Anonymous
I am happy to be able to share this information with everyone. Mr. Logue gave attention to our problem immediately and resolved the issue for us quickly. He is an attorney who is respected, not just by us but the court system. I am thankful we found him, and would recommend him to anyone needing a great attorney to represent them. Anonymous
